Hi! I am a Therapeutic Counselor working to support individuals in knowing, being, and expressing themselves fully.
As a student of Tibetan Buddhism, and having completed the 2-year training in Contemplative Psychotherapy from the Nalanda Institute, I draw from Buddhist Psychology and Buddhist belief systems to support my work. As a Certified Hakomi Practitioner (CHP) I also draw from my training in The Hakomi Method, a mindfulness-based somatic psychotherapy, rooted in Buddhist and western psychotherapeutic principles.
As a certified yoga teacher, I pull from Yogic philosophy, Hindu texts, and the power of embodied practices. I combine these with studies in a collective energy work modality called TCM, where I learned to cultivate an awareness of the unspoken and intuitive aspects of communication. As a Reiki Master, certified Thai Massage therapist, and longtime 5Rhthyms practitioner, I place great value on our somatic experiences and the power of embodiment.
I have studied meditation within many traditions and have maintained a daily meditation practice for nearly a decade. I believe in the transformative power of deep listening and presence, as actively engaged practices that support our personal and collective well-being. In a different life, I completed a Masters degree in Conservation Biology, which also informs my work and my value of our connection to the earth and the meaning we find in our environments.
I created and managed a Mindfulness program while working as a writer and researcher at Knology, a non-political New York City-based progressive think tank, which focuses on practical social science to support a better world. For over five years, I supported the organization’s well-being and productivity through mindfulness practices offered twice a week. Under my guidance, the program grew to include multiple mindfulness facilitators and enriched the working environment for participating employees.
